Late Morning and Afternoon By the Pool

So, after the loooong day yesterday we slept in a little on our first full day. Had the banana and a few grapes from the dish that was in our room when we checked in. The banana was from the island, and it tasted great. It was a little smaller and sweeter than the bananas back in the states and the grapes weren’t bad either.  Their bananas are exported to the EU, not the States. So, they aren’t entirely like the bananas we’re used to. We were excited to be spending the afternoon by the pool after yesterday’s adventure.

Here’s a view of the beach looking North from Coconut Bay. The beach extends all the way to the second point that is visible. The beach actually goes further but there is a sign there warning guests not to pass. All of the beaches in St. Lucia are public beaches, but resort security really does not want you to go past the sign.

There is more beach to the South past that rocky point, but it does not go nearly as far as it does to the North.

Seaweed Issues

Notice that there is a little seaweed on the beach. In fact, these pictures were taken shortly after it was cleaned up. There is a bit of a seaweed problem in and around the Caribbean Sea, not just here. Coconut Bay faces east and is on the Atlantic coast of St. Lucia. The West side of the island has not been hit as hard.

We spent most of our afternoon by the pool in the Splash pool, near the swim-up bar. As was every day we were in St. Lucia, the weather was perfect and it was never too hot or too cool. Also, there was a constant light breeze.

Walked down the beach to check out the North side of the resort and to get a little exercise. The seaweed was a little worse. The beach had not been cleaned up. There are several chairs and umbrellas set up along this stretch of beach. The Paradise Beach and Bar is located on this stretch of beach. There is also the Surf Shack where the kit surfing activities take place. There were many people Kitesurfing daily during our stay.

Evening Dinner at Silk Asian Restaurant

After our afternoon by the pool we got cleaned up and went to dinner at Silk. Silk is an Asian themed restaurant. I was concerned that the meal was not going to be that great. The themed restaurants always seem to be a wild card at the All-Inclusive resorts.

I chose the Spicy Tuna Roll for the appetizer and it was not that good. I don’t think I ate any more than half of it. Then it was the Mango Salad which was good but not great. However, the main course was fresh caught Mahi-mahi. It was by far the best Mahi-mahi that I have ever had. That saved the meal!

Enjoyed a couple sips of good local rum at Peter John’s Lounge which is upstairs next to Silk and Calabash restaurants. This bar houses the largest variety of liquor than any of the other bars at the resort. They also stash the higher-end alcohol up there. You can’t go wrong with a sip of locally made Admiral Rodney rum.
