Morning Walk

Woke up in the morning and decided to go for a long walk on the beach, headed east from across from the condo at Majestic Sun. It was a great day for a walk, the weather was awesome. We kept walking for quite awhile and then noticed that it was time to start looking for a restroom. Great, we’ll keep an eye out for a restaurant on the beach and grab a quick bite to eat and use the restroom. We keep walking. There are no bars, restaurants or public places on this stretch of beach. We get all the way down to the Hilton and every access point off of the beach is gated.

No big problem yet. We decided to turn around and start heading back to the condo. Now everyone really needs to use the restroom so we look closer for a way off the beach and to some public land that might have a restroom. No such luck. All exits from the beach have very stern warnings regarding private property and prosecution. Oh hell, the guys get separated from the girls as they hope for a public restroom across the beach from the ocean and the guys head towards the water just in case.

We lose the girls at Camp Gulf. They took a chance and wandered into what looks like quite the redneck paradise. I’m sure they have a better chance not getting into any trouble there alone than with us with them.

The guys finally made it off the beach at Public Beach access Norwood, thank goodness there was a port-a-pottie there.

So after several texts and a couple phone calls the guys and girls were able to hook back up with a renewed energy and refreshingly empty bladders.

Walked down the road a little bit and stumbled across the Surf Hut for a quick beer after reuniting. I had this beer from a brewery not too far from Destin. I’m a big IPA fan and the Grayton Fish Whitle IPA did not disappoint.

Lunch

Stopped at the Beach Bar at the Royal Palm Grille for lunch. Had an order of Shrimp Quesadillas and a Corona for a lunch that really hit the spot.

Odd thing is that the bathroom across the street. There is no bathroom at the actual bar, you need to run across the street. The bathroom is behind the wall on the left, the bartender will set you up with the code to enter to get into the gated parking lot area containing the restroom. A little different, but certainly not the end of the world.

Restrooms are across the street.

The guys played a round of golf at Seascape Resort during the afternoon. Not a bad course, not a great course but we had a good time. Ended up getting a pretty good deal using the Majestic Sun owner’s rate. Quite a bit of water and sand on the course, I found both rather frequently. But, that is my standard golf game. I won’t post my score or the number of lost balls.

Dinner

For dinner we went to Captain Dave’s. Not a bad drive from Majestic Sun but since it was a Saturday night the traffic was picking up. It wasn’t anything awful, but definitely noticeable.

Had a Millionaire’s Margarita and the Grilled Shrimp/Scallop combo for dinner. I really enjoyed both the margarita and the meal. There was more than enough food served and it did not disappoint.

Headed back to the condo after dinner and called it an early evening.
